Dear Members,
As of January 1, 2021 Gene Jennings, our illustrious and energetic ITC president, has resigned from his post as president, sighting personal reasons for his departure. Gene will remain a member of ITC and has indicated he hopes to continue participating in ITC conferences going forward.
The board would like to offer words of heartfelt thanks to Gene for his leadership, insights, good humor and overall dedication to the work of ITC. Gene has been very involved in the evolving ITC platform for many years including the present expression found in the Naarden Declaration (2014) and the Philadelphia Declaration (2017). Considering that ITC is a platform where theosophical organizations and Theosophists meet to share ideas and participate in cross-pollination, Gene has helped steer the board with empathy and compassion and the ability to keep track of many threads of thought. He has a unique ability to track different points of view as they mix and mingle at board meetings and alchemically merge them in a way that has allowed many wonderful and inspiring conferences to take shape.
At the 2018 Berlin conference Gene went far beyond his ITC presidential duties by sharing with all present his personal journey, using his theosophical understanding as he navigated his career as a dedicated psychiatrist working with the complexities of the human psyche primarily with young people applying the tools of medical science along with theosophical insight about the human soul. It was a beautiful learning moment for all of us concerned with the problems of our fellow man. (You can watch the video of this talk on our YouTube channel.)
So once again the board thanks Gene for all his work and guidance as board president and would like to wish him and his family a healthy and meaningful future in all their endeavors, theosophical and otherwise.
With love and respect, ITC Board Members.
PS Gene Jennings’ resignation adds another Board Director opening to be filled at this year’s election by email prior to the Members’ meeting in July. The Board presidency and the other officer positions will then be filled by vote of the Board at their first meeting after that Members’ meeting.
